Unlike most of the country, PSE&G's 2026 story is a small decrease rather than an increase: New Jersey's annual Basic Generation Service (BGS) auction, certified by the Board of Public Utilities on 12 February 2026, set new supply rates effective 1 June 2026 that lowered the typical PSE&G residential bill about 1.8 percent, or $3.23 a month, to $180.23. That came after a much larger jump the year before, when the June 2025 BGS auction raised the typical PSE&G residential bill about 17 percent, roughly $27 a month. PSE&G was the only major New Jersey utility whose bill fell in 2026: Jersey Central Power & Light rose about 1.6 percent to $137.47 and Atlantic City Electric edged up 0.11 percent to $201.76. The supply portion of the bill is procured through the annual statewide auction and the PJM capacity market, while PSE&G's delivery charges are regulated by the New Jersey BPU.
